From what I have seen with multiple job listings they all want at least a 4 year degree in a field. If you don't have one they expect you to have a long track record of games to show. It is good to have a balance of both as having a higher degree sh…

Do game design/film companies care about whether or not you went to college and obtained a degree in 3D modeling & animation? Or do they only really care about your portfolio and where you've worked before? Currently I'm on the fence in deciding wh…

Have you thought of setting up a web stream so members of this website from all across the world will be able to at least watch the conference? It would be a good idea, and isn't that hard to do, what with services like justin.tv and such.

Fantastic news about your GED test & course! Do you have a folio of work that I can see? How cool would it be if we ended up working on a game together!

You wouldn't believe how much our game ended up changing. Remember the original - year 2121 & based in space? Well we had to bring it down to individuals in present day earth, similar the game Kudos2. You can see the Kudos game here: http://tinyurl.com/npeuet. Still determined the original will see the light of day some other time!

This site has ended up like most other Ning sites. It's like, hellloooo, anyone out therrrrre? If you want to email instead you can reach me here: marigo@strategicessentials.com.au or on facebook.

Keep in touch!

Hey Mitchell! Great to hear from you.

Yeah its been a while. The GDD was submitted three weeks ago and we were told it may take them up to six weeks to decide on the winner. Developing games is not for people in a hurry, huh? And the game is completely different to what we started out with to suit 'client needs'. One of the good things out of all this is that I've been accepted to do a presentation on serious games at the Game Developers Conference in December.

In the meantime I have some ideas for mobile games esp for iPhone, but there are not many iPhone developers here. Bummer! so may have to consider FB & MS. Wished I learned how to code!

Anyway how are you! Last time we spoke you were waiting on your results. What are you up to now?

Wow, thanks for your feedback! I'll continue tinkering.

Yeah, Galapagos, we're thinking RTS along the lines of Civilisation and Age of Empires. Our developer is planning to re-skin an engine he built for a game he developed about 8 years ago, Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. We're ok on the technical side and the 'learning outcome' (so far) it's just the game play & story that we need to agree on. A few experienced game designers at the workshop told us that we should place it on present day Earth & its thrown us a bit. Meh, we'll work it out...

"How are you traveling" is Aussie for how are you, what are you up to?

It's great listening to your music while writing on your wall!

Things are a bit quiet on this site...

*Poke back*!

Apologies for falling off the grid, this serious game comp has taken up so much time and energy. Just spent 3 days with the other teams and mentors and everyone on the team suddenly wants to change everything...wtf?? Let's see what happens...

If you want to have a look check it out at a blog I set up to 'put it out there': http://galapagosthegame.wordpress.com (I haven't launched it yet as it looks really conservative). Would love your thoughts! The site for my 'dream-on' start up is at www.strategicgameslab.com.

How are you traveling?

My main interest is in serious games (as long as they're fun). I have a game concept that's currently in the finals of a national competition here in Australia (the winning game gets developed). I have a professional designer and developer on the team but I'm here to do my own learning as I have other ideas in the pipeline.

BTW translating my name into English = Marie Taylor. Now that's really ordinary don't y'think?

Yep, that's my real name. Nothing crazy about it dude, you need to get out more! lol.

I like your stuff btw. What do you specialise in - art and music for games?
